Biking Taiwan: Linkou-林口 北112 down to 106 and back

by Michael Cannon on June 20, 2009 in Biking

Benevolent tomb overseer on 112N out of Linkou-林口 Friday morning I took a bit of an easy ride, for I wanted to rest a bit before a long, hill climb and back of 80 kilometers Saturday morning. As such, I tried a new route into the 106 valley by heading south out of Linkou-林口 via 108, hanging a right onto 北112 along the ridge across the valley from route 106. 北112 is a bit of a long slow descent until nearly the end where it drops into the valley just past the Beautiful ___ golf course.

Be careful at the hairpin though around kilometer 8.5, it’s a tight turn with a rapid drop, maybe even 10 meters within a couple hundred meters. The rest of the way is pretty casual till you start climbing back up 106. 106 though is one of the calmer climbs onto the Linkou plateau and not congested with truck traffic.
