It couldn’t be believed unless it was lived

It couldn’t be believed unless it was lived;
40 kilometers to a 7-11 in a place of 1 per 1,500.

The land mass is so tight,
homes packed like sardines.
Yet on the Taiwan east,
it’s as remote as can be.

People smile and wave as you pass.
To each you return the same
and dream of passing again,
to live the unbelieveable.

A place so remote,
in a land so close.

6/8/2009 – Day 2, on Taiwan east coast riding 180 kilometers starting from Hualien, now south of Shihtiping.
